As economical and resourceful as ever, Flisak exploits every aspect of the poster’s content in his illustration, making everything belong in the picture.
The title itself becomes smoke rising from the serial-murderer’s homemade crematorium, and the credits become the ground; literally, the foundation on which the film is built.
Are the credits in the bottom right tainted red because of spilled blood, or bathed in light from Landru’s window? It scarcely matters, it is a wonderful subtle detail regardless, and elevates this simple atmospheric design.
