Czas Apokalipsy is more akin to the artwork that Waldemar Świerzy produced for the music industry, which often featured impressionistic portraits of the musicians with metaphorical references to their artistic canon. Here the apparition of Kurtz appears before a backdrop of fire, gazing out with demonic eyes from a cloud of chaos which represents multiple themes from the film.
The turbulent haze of insanity overwhelming the Colonel takes on the appearance of a small swarm of insects, denizens of the infernal jungle heat. They buzz around his head like birds or stars on a concussed cartoon character, a clear depiction of his unsettled mind. On closer inspection these are actually tiny Bell Huey helicopters - the battalion of disciples in his command, the minions surrounding him, serving and protecting the Heart of Darkness.
