During a summer holiday filled with a busy schedule of schoolwork, Rezo and Rostia sneak out for a day of rest and recreation.
Using just black woodcut shapes on solid yellow, this creates an atmosphere to perfectly suit the film and its title. The two friends run through an open countryside in the sunshine, as free as the birds soaring overhead. They run downhill; not even the landscape is against them on this perfect summer day. The woodcut title lettering appears to be made from rustic wooden batons, and by their position and angle of perspective they appear to be part of the idyllic rural image.
This design is so simple and delightful, it is irresistibly appealing.
